In contrast, the present study is concerned with how lives look when things turn out well, offering perhaps a model portrait of dramas that are productive, positive, and meaningful. In this way, the following portrait is offered as a complement to the rich work that has preceded it. The aim of this chapter is to describe major aspects of the way a lifedefining desire comes into being, based upon the autobiographies of several persons who have achieved a vocation in life. Whatever the source, singularly or in combination, persons experience a wide range of primitive dramas, any one of which could probably develop into a plot for life.
When personhood is achieved, positioning reaches a culmination point and one moves to positing. There is no definite end to an investigation of the personal significance of positing, but one can strive for a general understanding.
