Verse 2 says he cannot be taught much. Verse 3 says he is yet carnal and walks as men (in his own strength). Verse 4 speaks of envy, strife and divisions among them; troublemakers. THE SECOND CHRISTIAN The spiritual man will compare with the obedient son who wants to do his father’s will. He is spoken of in I Corinthians 2:15; 3:1. He sees and understands the things that are freely given to him of God. He is yielded to the Holy Spirit’s guidance, and the fruit of the Spirit will be seen in his life (Galatians 5:22, 23).

The sad thing is that it is his own choice because of unyieldedness. How do I know that God will not ask me to do some hard thing, like becoming a missionary to some far country? If He does, it will be the best thing you could possibly do. God will never ask you to do anything for Him without giving you power and wisdom to do the task. How may I know if I am filled by the Spirit? Will there be an emotional experience? Very likely, especially the first time you surrender your life to His control.

You received Jesus as your Saviour, and He gave you His life and His nature. Salvation is the miracle of receiving life, Christ’s life (I John 5:11). God does not promise your conversion will be emotional, although it may be. He does not promise it will be spectacular, as the apostle Paul’s or sensational. But in Revelation 3:20 He does say if you open the door He will come in. Feelings change like the weather, but His Word “liveth and abideth forever” (I Peter 1:23). Faith is just taking God at His word to keep His promises.
