This was followed by the discovery of a polymorphic form of FE65 that is associated with increased susceptibility to late onset Alzheimer’s disease (LOAD). He has published evidence that two isoforms of FE65 are upregulated in relatively unaffected regions of the brain of patients with LOAD, and has emphasized the importance of such investigations as a means of detecting the earliest events in pathogenesis.
