Blyth has described it) "the power of seeing"5 what he has seen. He wishes to share his haiku moment. This cannot be done through explanations or by cluttered sentimental verse. It is absolutely necessary for him to avoid intellection or philosophical comment, and this will be stressed repeatedly.

"10 It is probably true to say that the complement of directness is paradoxicality. A paradox is a statement seemingly absurd, yet in fact true.
